This book is the third installment in a yearly series that started in the fall of 1995 at Manchester Business School with the inaugural international High Technology Small Firms Conference. The conference is becoming more and more well-known, and the papers chosen for Volume Three reflect the globally diverse community of regular and sporadic contributors to this conference. These volumes have a "critical mass" dimension because the papers add to the growing corpus of work with a "time series" dimension, in addition to representing a "time slice" of "state of the art" high technology small firm research in a particular year.
