Usually, numerical techniques like the finite element method are used for this kind of study. In the second, some parameters are known since the structure—or a prototype—exists there. Others, however, such wind loads or environmental factors, won't be well understood but could have a significant impact on the construction. The usual approach to solving these issues is to combine analytical and experimental techniques on the fly.
